
This is how it all began
The Williams Family roots
trace back to Mr. Stephen Williams. He was a tall thin man with a medium complexion. He was a fiery man who didn't take much
from anyone. He recalls being brought across a large body of water to a new home which was known as Crosby, Alabama. over
a period of time, the town became known as Gordon, Alabama. He was a farmer. He married Moriah Collins. Moriah and Stephen
borrowed money from Moriah's brother, who was said to have been rich, to purchase vast amounts of land. They were self sufficient,
with a sugar mill, livestock, and different crops for marketing and to feed their family. They were people of faith and tried
to instill love for the family and Christian values in their home. He lived in Gordon, Alabama until his death.
Born to Stephen and Moriah were Eight Children.
Arthur, married to Mary Charles. They had four children, Jenny, Virgil, Jake and
Betrice.
Vannie, married to Vinnie Lenox. They had nine children, Alberta, Walter, Stephen,
Lillian, Robert, Wesley D., Mary, George and Isaiah.
Lewis, married to Mary. They had eight children, Virgil, Corina, Lemon, Nettie B.,
Homer, August T., Lonzo and David.
George, married to Lena. They had six children. George Lee, Eunice, Bernice, Stella,
Jeremiah and Dora.
Alex, married to Kelly. They had seven children, Booster, L.G., Lullean, Airlene,
J.W. "Little Bud", David "Dunk" Lee, and Alex Lee. After the death of his first wife, Alex married Ola. They had five children,
Reola, Elijah, Martha, Jerry and Bessie.
Estella, married to Bert Donaldson. They had no children.
Hosea, married to Gussie. They had one child, Eddie. Hosea later married Anna Charles.
They had four children, Herbert, Stephen, Simon and Anna Mae.
Advertise married to Bertha. They had seven children, Zula, David, T.B., Sue, Adverise
Jr., Laverne and S.H.
